The other day I woke up feeling a little more human than I normally do at 5am, so I made myself a smoothie to have on my way to work. I think smoothies are a really great breakfast option for people like me who are extremely lazy because it literally takes 5 mins and you’re out the door. Now, I’m really bad at making smoothies, but this is one of the few that I have created that is actually really good (and semi healthy) so I decided to share my “recipe”.
The reason there is quotations around recipe is because i don’t measure things when I cook, I just eyeball everything so there’s no exact measurements to write out a real recipe. And as far as directions go, it’s a smoothie, throw it all in and blend. Easy. I use a Magic Bullet, so my eyeball measurements are based on that. So here is my Strawberry Banana Breakfast Smoothie “recipe”:
– Small handful of frozen bananas
– small handful of frozen strawberries
– ~1-2tablespoons vanilla Greek yogurt
– ~1 1/2 teaspoons peanut butter
– 1 scoop collagen protein
– ~1 teaspoon chia seeds (optional)
– oats, as much as you’d like (or use Cheerios instead)
– milk, enough to fill in remaining space in blending cup
I buy fresh bananas and strawberries and cut them up and freeze them because I cannot find them cut up in the freezer section. I like Greek yogurt for the taste and consistency. Also I have found through trial and error that a natural peanut butter with the oil in it tastes way better in the smoothie than any other. The brand I use is Laura Scudder’s. As far as protein, I like collagen protein but you can use whichever one you’d like, I’d recommend an unflavored one though. I started out using oats but recently switched to Cheerios and I think I like it better with the Cheerios. If you don’t like Cheerios, stick with the oats. As far as milk, as I mentioned in my Hum Raw Beauty review, I use Fairlife for the creamy flavor and extra protein but obviously any milk will do.
Well that’s my “recipe”, it’s nothing amazingly special or new but it is tasty so give it a try!
